Facebook has announced new service which let its users to advertise that they are organ donors in their own profiles. According to a statement published by the Facebook Social network: Facebook does this with the intention of creating a network of organ donors, in which that we have decided to share their stories and help you have more donors, since as we Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg said in her statement. Today, more than 114 000 people in the United States, and millions more around the world are waiting for heart transplants, kidney or liver that will save their lives. Many of these people – an average of 18 people a day – die waiting because there is simply not enough donor organs to meet demand. Medical experts believe that a wider awareness about organ donation can really help resolve the crisis. And we believe that just telling people you are an organ donor, the power to share and connect can play an important role.
How to announce yourself as an Organ Donor in Facebook?
To announce that you are an organ donor to your friends you need to log in with your Facebook account, go to your biography on timeline and click on the tab “Important Event”. Having done this, you have to click on the “Themes” in which you can choose “Organ Donor.”Once you’ve done that, you can publicly share that information with your contacts and others.
